Meinecke’s Entries for Mamluk Cairo

Every entry in Michael Meinecke's catalogue of Mamluk architecture, filed under the sultan's reign it falls in. Most record building work — a construction, a restoration, an extension — but about a quarter do not: they exist to date a building, to attest that it stood, or to record a burial. The badge on each card says which. Many of these buildings no longer survive; each will later be linked to its physical monument.
